# Kerala ready to welcome tourists: State tourism secretary Rani George

After the debilitating floods that hit 12 out of its 14 districts, killed over 260 and displaced over 1 million people, Kerala is ready to welcome tourists again, said officials from the Kerala tourism body in a press conference held in Mumbai recently.

"We carried out a tourism readiness survey between September 5 and 15 in 17 major tourist destinations," said Kerala tourism secretary Rani George. "We checked the status of connectivity, hotels, resorts etc and found that 90% of the destinations were operational and ready to receive tourists," she said. "This includes those in Munnar, Thekkady and Alapuzzha," she said.
